Village news for week 30 January 2012
CHURCH
SERVICES
Sunday Feb 5:
10 am Eucharist at St Mary’s
Langham.
10.30 am service at the Methodist
Church.

pm Candlemass Eucharist at
St Peter’s. This is a beautiful traditional service when the church
is lit by candlelight.
FOOTPATH WALK
This will set off from St Peter’s Church car park at 2 pm on Sunday
February 5.
BOXTED METHODIST SILVER BAND
The monthly band service is on Sunday February 5 at 3 pm in the
Methodist Church.
MOBILE LIBRARY
This will
call at the playing field car park from 11.05 -11.30
on Tuesday Feb 7.
COFFEE
MORNING/PLANNING ROADSHOW
Tuesday February 7
at Marks Tey Village Hall from 9.30 – 12.30 pm. The main purpose is
to “Road Show” the new planning legislation which is about to come
into practice along with short addresses from CPRE, SLCC and EALC.
There is no charge but places need to be booked in advance.

COUNCIL
The monthly meeting
is on Wednesday February 8 in the village hall at 7 pm
GOSPEL CONCERT
At Langham Community Centre on Saturday 4 February, 6.30–10 pm.
Pre-booked tickets £10, or £15 on the night, children £5. See the
community centre Facebook page for more information.
LANGHAM FILM NIGHTS
Tickets for the next Film Night
on Saturday February 18, showing The Help (cert 12A), are available
at £3.50 from Langham Community Shop, or on the door; advance
booking highly advisable. Doors open 7pm, film showing 7.45pm;
refreshments and cash bar available.
FRUGAL LUNCHES
SOUPMAKER’S NEEDED
The Lenten Frugal Lunches will
begin on Tuesday February 28 at Boxted Village Hall immediately
after the weekly Coffee Café. (10.30 to 12).
They will continue every Tuesday to April 3.
This means soup has to be provided for six consecutive
Tuesdays and Jos Renouf will welcome anyone who is willing to
prepare soup for one or more of the lunches.

THE COLCHESTER CHAMBER CHOIR
Formed two years ago under the directorship of the opera singer
Roderick Earle the choir will be presenting a sumptuous programme of
music at St Peter’s Church on Saturday March 3 at 2.30 pm.
WIG & FIDGETT
CBC have approved application no.110936 (with
conditions) for the demolition of the public house and formation of
a single detached dwelling.
